Pastor Rodney L. Carter, Jr. serves as the Lead Pastor of GMCHC and is one of God’s chosen for this time.

Pastor Carter is a vibrant and dynamic speaker, preaching nationally and internationally across denominational lines. Pastor Carter aims to bring the scriptures alive with his contemporary signature of connecting the Gospel message and academia while maintaining the vibrant preaching tradition of the church. Pastor Carter’s God-given assignment is to encourage, equip and empower the people of God, thus creating world changers. His life declares Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach good tidings.”

He is the only son and youngest child of Overseer Rodney, Sr. & First Lady Terry Carter, and the brother of Lady Monique Carter. He made a personal profession of faith in Christ as his Savior and Lord and was baptized at a young age. At the tender age of five, Pastor Carter felt the calling to preach. With the encouragement of his parents and the guidance of his grandfathers the late Bishop Milton L. Carter and the late Rev. Benjamin Sands, he began to grow in his calling to preach the gospel.

At the age of 13 years old, Pastor Carter attended Calvary Bible Institute under the instruction of his spiritual father, Bishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. He was then licensed as a minister at the age of 14 and ordained at 27.  Having a passion for academia and preparation, Pastor Carter earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Pastoral Ministry and a Master of Arts in Ministry, both from Lancaster Bible College. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Ministry degree in Strategic Leadership.

Pastor Carter faithfully served as Co-Lead Pastor at Grace Church in Reading, PA. Under his leadership, he mobilized the church’s operations, provided guidance for COVID-19 challenges, and developed a thriving digital ministry that reached hundreds weekly and established a local outreach ministry that served over 700 families.

Since January 1, 2021, Pastor Carter has served with dedication at Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church under the leadership of Archbishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr., and Co-Pastor Susie Owens. He was first appointed as Associate Pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church. During this tenure, he shared in overall pastoral duties, including preaching, teaching, discipling and strategizing for the church’s future.

On May 5, 2023, Pastor Carter was appointed as Lead-Pastor Designate and was officially installed as the next pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church on February 24, 2024. Pastor Carter considers himself to be blessed to carry forward a profound legacy of his predecessor. He remains steadfast in dedication to nurture a church that will exalt Christ, equip believers, and embrace the community.

Pastor Carter is married to the love of his life, Cherese Carter. Together, they serve in ministry to help people find their purpose in Christ. Pastor Carter and Lady Carter are proud parents of Rodney L. Carter III and Charis Y. Carter.
